IPL 2018-Look Kings XI Punjab Begin Campaign Against Delhi Daredevils

A new look Kings XI Punjab under Ravichandran Ashwin will take on Delhi Daredevils in their opening encounter of IPL-2018 on Sunday, as both sides look to begin the T20 competition on a winning note.

This term, KXIP look a balanced side with Ashwin set for his maiden stint as leader of an IPL team. It has players of the calibre of Yuvraj Singh, Chris Gayle, David Miller, K L Rahul and Aaron Finch not to verbalize of the likes of Manoj Tiwary, Mohit Sharma, Axar Patel and Mujeeb-ur-Rahman.

Barring a few who have been retained, most of the domestic and several foreign players have joined the team this season.

Punjab mentor Virender Sehwag rated the new-look team as the best of all seasons.

"We comprise the best side, if I compare last ten years," Sehwag said, adding that the team is a balanced one with a right mix of Indian and foreign players.

Punjab's captain in the previous season, Glenn Maxwell will now turn up for the opposition side and so will Rahul Tewatia and Gurkeerat Mann.

Both Sehwag and head coach Brad Hodge heap praise on Ashwin, even though captaining an IPL side may be the off-spinner's maiden role, and feel that a "smart cricketer" like him will inspire the team.

K L Rahul, who was bought for Rs 11 crore by KXIP, is focused to help the team lift its maiden title.

KXIP's best come to an end in the decade-old tournament has been to reach the finals in 2014.

Inconsistency in their presentation has been a cause of concern for the Punjab outfit and the team will have to overcome this aspect if they want to finish on top this time.

present can be a fair amount of attention on players like 17-year-old Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb-ur-Rahman and 24-year-old all-rounder from Kashmir, Manzoor Dar, the second cricketer after Parveez Rasool from the Kashmir Valley to make it to the IPL.

Delhi Daredevils share similarity with Punjab team, as they too have struggle in the last few seasons.

DD's head coach Ricky Ponting has exuded optimism and said that he doesn't care about his team's dismal documentation over 10 editions of IPL as he believe that the "fresh group" of players have it in them to win a maiden title this season.

Delhi reached semi-finals twice in their first three seasons.

The Gautam Gambhir-led side has an ideal mix of youth and experience. Gambhir has helped his previous outfit Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to clinch titles on two occasions.

Delhi have retained wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant and opener Shreyas Iyer.

All-rounders Chris Morris and Glenn Maxwell will lend depth to Delhi's bowling and batting department. With the likes of Gambhir, Colin Munro, Shreyas Iyer, Jason Roy and Prithvi Shaw, the side has the ability to go for big totals.

Teams:
Delhi Daredevils: Gautam Gambhir (captain), Shreyas Iyer, Sandeep Lamichhane, Manjot Kalra, Glenn Maxwell, Amit Mishra, Mohammed Shami, Chris Morris, Colin Munro, Shahbaz Nadeem, Naman Ojha, Rishabh Pant, Harshal Patel, Jason Roy, Vijay Shankar, Prithvi Shaw, Rahul Tewatia, Jayant Yadav, Abhishek Sharma, Avesh Khan, Trent Boult, Daniel Christian, Sayan Ghosh, Gurkeerat Singh Mann.

Kings XI Punjab: Ravichandran Ashwin (captain), Yuvraj Singh, Mayank Agarwal, Mayank Dagar, Aaron Finch, Chris Gayle, Manzoor Dar, David Miller, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Karun Nair, Axar Patel, Lokesh Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, Manoj Tiwary, Andrew Tye, Ben Dwarshuis, Ankit Rajpoot, Pardeep Sahu, Mohit Sharma, Barinder Sran, Akshdeep Nath.

opposition ipl chennai grows farmers counsel disorderly matches

Over the past week, Tamil Nadu has been witnessing massive protests over the Centre's alleged failure to form the Cauvery Management Board. On Thursday, thousands of workers from opposition parties storm Kamaraj Salai, which faces Chennai's Marina Beach to make their annoyance with the AIADMK and the BJP clear.

But just minutes away from the agitation, at the MA Chidambaram stadium preparations have been underway in full rock for the first equal of the Chennai Super Kings on home ground. With even practice sessions of the team witness a full house, the ticket prices have been notched up to a minimum of Rs 1300 for the upcoming games. While the suspended team will come back to the IPL with its first match adjacent to the Mumbai Indians on Saturday, CSK’s first home game will be against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 10.

But just days ahead of this exceedingly anticipated event, opposition parties and farmer groups in Tami Nadu have united to demand that all IPL matches in Chennai be cancelled.

The clarion call against the group had so far emerged from smaller political parties such as Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam, Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi (TVK), Viduthalai Thamizh Puligal Katchi, Thamizhar Vidiyal Katchi and Social Democratic Party of India.

But on Friday, DMK working President MK Stalin and Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam chief TTV Dhinakaran sanctioned the idea of boycotting the IPL as well.

Talking to the media, after the all-party meeting, Stalin diplomatically said, "As far as we are concerned, we are not saying it shouldn't happen. Those who are conduct it should realise the feelings of the people."

TTV Dhinakaran, meanwhile, did not hash words. In a tweet addressing the people of Tamil Nadu, he said, "Till the voice of farmers in the formation of the Cauvery Management Board gets stronger, I ask fans to boycott IPL matches."

TVK too had to be had a similar narrative. Its leader Panruti T Velmurugan said, “In order to condemn the Centre which shows no regard for the livelihood and the identity of the Tamils, we request that IPL should not take situate here – at a time when Tamilians are bursting with anger. If the BCCI conducts the IPL here, and the Tamil Nadu government and the Tamil Nadu police support it, then all those who eat the food produced by farmers will buy tickets and go inside the stadium and protest in a democratic way. Tamil Nadu government, BCCI and the IPL management be supposed to not push us to that level. If all our notifications on this matter are ignored, we are ready to come to the streets (to protest).”

Organisers, however, claim that cricket has once again become a punching bag in a political fight.

"What does IPL have to do with the Cauvery issue?" asks IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla. "We also feel like the Cauvery dispute to be sorted out but why damage IPL for that? This is not a government event, it is conducted by the BCCI. It can't become a punching bag each time a problem arises," he adds.

When TNM contacted planter association over this proposed boycott, they expressed their support and questioned the need for celebration after the 'state is in mourning'.

"This boycott is being call for in order to make it clear to the Centre that Tamil Nadu is in mourning," says PK Deivasigamani, TN Farmers Association.

But how is the Centre in anyway connected to the Indian Premier confederation which is conducted by the BCCI?

"We agree that it is not coupled but this is more of a symbolic gesture to show that Tamil Nadu is focussed on the Cauvery issue and has no time for entertainment," says the farmer leader. "When farmers are suffering without water, how can populace want to go watch these matches?" he asks.

And what if the match, which have already been scheduled are conducted?

"We will go there and create problems. What will they do if 500 people run into the ground? There will definitely be uproar," he warns.

Political analyst RK Radhakrishnan says it is only natural for political parties to stipulate that the state not allow the competition to be conducted.

"In 2009, the IPL was shift out of India due to security concerns as it clashed with the general election. The same argument holds now, as protests are erupting everyday over the Cauvery issue. Deployment of police will be a matter of concern," says the analyst. "While it may seem like parties are attempting to politicise the matter, the reality is that the state is not in the bad temper for this kind of celebration when farmers are going to put up with this summer," he adds.

But can the matches be stopped now?

"No, the planning is done and not to a great extent can be done now. That is unless, there is some incidence of violence," he explains.

Political tensions in India often spill on to its cricket pitches. This was witnessed when matches between Sri Lanka and India or Pakistan and India were cancelled. Radhakrishnan, on the other hand, denies that this demand falls under the same bracket.

An example that do fall within the same arena is from Maharashtra in 2016. Following a water crisis in Latur, protests from the populace of the state led to some match being shifted out from Maharashtra.

Padmaavat movie reviews 2018

  • ↺↺Cast: Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, Jim Sarbh, Anupriya Goenka, Raza Murad

  • ⇖⇖Director: Sanjay Leela Bhansali

  • ⇖⇖Rating: 2.5 stars⇖⇖

  • All those agitating over how Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat would trample all over Rajput pride, you may rest easy: the director didn’t need a memo from the Karni Sena and all the other self-styled ‘armies’ on keeping it ‘sanskaari’ - his entire film is a relentlessly opulent, magnificently-mounted paean to Rajput 'aan baan shaan’.

  • ⇗⇗Here’s how it goes, just in case you are one of those rare people who haven’t been breathlessly following the film’s troubles: the Rajput king Ratan Singh (Kapoor) is the hero, the Muslim invader Alauddin Khilji (Singh) is the villain, and the object of their mutual adoration is the utterly gorgeous Padmavati, who will always and forever be a good Indian girl, and later, wife. When we see her first, she is fleet of foot and clear of eye, a joyous free spirit who has a will of her own. She ends up committing 'jauhar’, her life and death circumscribed by ⇖⇖male notions of honour.

  • If that’s not patriarchy, then I’m Queen Padmavati, who of course did not exist. And while we of course cannot judge the actions of the dramatis personae who presumably lived in the 13th century (even if they were mythical creatures, created by the poet Malik Mohammad Jayasi) by present day gender roles, we do see that the director has a problem on his hands: how do you show a beautiful queen jumping into a pyre, along with hundreds of her compatriots (a shot has a pregnant woman and a little girl), without glorifying the act?

  • ⇖⇖One way of doing it is to stuff the beginning and the middle acts with so much glitter and glamour that we are expected to be swept away. Which we dutifully do: there’s a kind of beauty in the way Bhansali creates his frames, even if your eye begins to be overwhelmed by it. Deepika Padukone⇌⇌ has never been lovelier. She wears those stunning costumes, never letting them wear her, even if her waist is decorously covered in the Ghoomar song (alert viewers may see a flash of the said body part in other parts of the film). Shahid Kapoor sports kohl in his eyes, and clearly articulated muscles in his chest, often left bare. But this film belongs to Ranveer Singh’s Khilji, who bites into mounds of meat (serving well the prototype of the Muslim savage) and his part with such relish that you can taste it.

  • ↸↸If it hadn’t been for the extreme reactions from a bunch of extreme reactionaries-cum-buffoons which nearly derailed the release the film, Bhansali’s latest opus would have been just another Bhansali extravganza, full of costumery and puffery. But given that all art is political, even if it is dressed up art, Padmaavat becomes more than it is, because the director chooses to outline the vileness of his antagonist, and underline the ‘pati-vrata ness’ of Rani Padmavati. Far from any subtle touches, Bhansali’s black-and-white delineation of the good Hindu and the bad Muslim (who could also, gasp, swing both ways) is so stark that that we are left with no illusion about which part of the political firmament he wants to be on the right side of.

  • ⇖⇖Finally, and we can’t get away from this, the question for us while watching this fresh version of the oldest tale in the book – ‘ek tha raja, ek thi rani, dono mar gaye, khatam kahani’—is, how do we deal with the fact of a woman being forced to jump into a pyre to save the ‘honour’ of her husband, and her people↪↪↪

  • ⇖⇖Of course, Padmaavat is spectacular: no one can do spectacle like Bhansali. This was what he was born to do. You can easily delight in it while the going is good. But nearly three hours of it, and looping rhetoric around what constitutes Rajput valour can and does become tiresome. And that compulsion to make ‘sati’ so good-looking, when the singeing of flesh can be so gruesome, is troubling.

Dhoni reveals Chennai Super Kings' plans for IPL 2018 auction in Bengaluru

  • ⧫⧫⧭⧭Former India captain MS Dhoni said on Friday (January 19) that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will look to buy their former players at the mega auction, which will be held on January 27 and 28 in Bengaluru ahead of the upcoming 11th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

  • Dhoni added the team will try and buy "local lad" Ravichandran Ashwin during the auction. However, the skipper asked the fans to keep "emotions aside" as he expects a lot of other franchises to go after former CSK players.

  • ⧪⧪CSK⧭⧭ are leaving no stone unturned ahead of their much-anticipated return to IPL following the end of the two-year suspension.

  • The two-time champions spent Rs 33 crore to retain their superstars - Dhoni (Rs 15 crore), Suresh Raina (Rs 11 crore) and Ravindra Jadeja (Rs 7 crore).

  • The Chennai-based franchise still have two Right To Match (RTM) cards, which they can use during the auction to bring back a couple more of their former players.

  • 'Want local players in CSK'
  • Dhoni acknowledged that they cannot use RTM cards for Ashwin and that they will use them properly to "make a strong team". He also said that a lot of areas have already been covered with the retentions of Raina, Jadeja and himself.

  • "We will definitely go for him [Ashwin] in the auction. He is a local lad. We want a lot of local players in CSK," Dhoni said at a promotional event in Chennai.

  • He added: "We also have Brendon McCullum, Faf du Plessis and Dwayne Bravo (our former players). We have two RTMs. But we have to know when and where to use them.

  • "With Ashwin we cannot use the RTM as we have already got three Indian players retained. We have to buy him in the auction. He will come first in the auction. But as I said, we will have to wait and watch. We will try to get him.

  • ⧬⧬⧬At an auction, we also have to look at how much money we can afford to go for each individual as we look to make a strong team.

  • "In the past, we have seen a lot of teams target former CSK players. We may have to keep the emotions aside, we may want somebody, but if his price goes outside our range, we have to let him go because we have to focus on making the complete side.

  • "⧭That's the adaptability factor we need to have at the auction table.

  • "As far as the team composition is concerned, we had three retainerships. We have retained a keeper, we have retained two batsmen and the same two batsmen can also bowl - one left-arm spinner and one off-spinner.

  • "A lot of areas are covered when it comes to the top-order. We don't need to go for more left-handers⭃⭃⭃⭃

  • CSK had reportedly approached Brett Lee for the bowling coach role, but the Australian great declined the offer, citing his commentary commitments. However, the Chennai club managed to appoint their former opener Michael Hussey as their batting coach.

Padmaavat new promos leaked Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor

  • ⧭Two new promos of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Padmaavat were leaked online on Friday, January 19, just six days prior to its release in theatres on January 25.

  • ⧬The promos have taken social media by storm with their breathtaking action sequences, larger-than-life screenplay and cinematography, powerful dialogues and brilliant performances from lead actors Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.

  • ⧫The first leaked promo of Padmaavat focuses entirely on Deepika, where she is seen portraying the role of Rani Padmini delivering some hard-hitting lines which will keep you hooked to the computer screens.

  • ⦽In the second promo, Ranveer Singh aka Alauddin Khilji is seen at his menacing best and there's no harm in saying this is possibly the best we have seen from the Bajirao actor till date. His performance will keep you on the edge of your seats.

  • ⧭Shahid Kapoor too packs a punch with his portrayal of Maharawal Ratan Singh. But unfortunately, his character is yet again underplayed, which seems quite unfair for an actor who has proved his calibre in movies like Udta Punjab and Haider.

  • 🔺The leaked promos may have further raised the level of excitement among fans, but it can also be considered as a wake-up call for the makers to safeguard their film from getting leaked before it hits the theatres on the planned date.

  • 🔺Meanwhile, the Supreme Court's order to lift the ban on Padmaavat in four states — Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh — has irked the Rajput Karni Sena, who have now stated that they will not allow Bhansali to shoot in Rajasthan ever again.

  • 🔝The fringe group has reportedly banned the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chief Prasoon Joshi as well from entering Rajasthan. Joshi is scheduled to participate in the upcoming edition of the Jaipur Literature Festival.

Nokia 9-Release date rumours and everything you need to know

  • ⧭Pocket-lint OnLeaks x Compareraja Baidu 91Mobiles HMD OnLeaks x Compareraja OnLeaks x Compareraja OnLeaks x Compareraja OnLeaks x Compareraja

  • Long before the Nokia 8 was launched, there was a lot of talk of there being two flagship handsets from Nokia or, more appropriately, HMD Global. HMD is the licensee for the Nokia name on phones.

  • ⧭Some went as far as saying that the Nokia 8 was going to launch in two sizes which didn't happen: we were ⬈given one Nokia 8 and so the rumour cycle was reset.

  • We've unpicked the rumours to present everything we know about the Nokia 9 so far - and there's a lot of chatter.

  • Nokia 9: The name
  • The Nokia 9 name first appeared early in 2017, where Nokia 8 and Nokia 9 were used interchangeably. At the time, no one knew which number Nokia would be giving to its flagship phone, although the rumours started to favour the Nokia 8, which eventually launched in August 2017.

  • The Nokia 9 name persisted, however, with a number of rumours pinned to the device that didn't match those of the Nokia 8 device that launched. Some assumed there was a Nokia 8 Plus version, but as we said above, that wasn't the case.

  • We heard more concrete confirmation of the Nokia 9 name as soon as the Nokia 8 was launched. Nokia 9 exists and it's another flagship level device coming from HMD Global - and plenty of people are talking about it.

  • ⧪Nokia 9: Display⧪
  • 5.5-inch display
  • OLED
  • 2560 x 1440 pixels, Quad HD
  • In the early days of Nokia 9 rumours, we'd often see this handset mentioned when there was talk of a 5.5 or 5.7-inch display. The Nokia 8 landed with a 5.3-inch display, so it makes sense to suggest that the Nokia 9 is going to be larger. With the Nokia 9 passing through the FCC, it's confirmed that it carries a 5.5-inch display.

  • Rumours suggest a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution and there was mention of the Nokia 9 having an OLED display. These OLED rumours were early in 2017 and now that we have the FCC filing, we can see that the OLED display rumour is true.

  • Compareraja say that it's going to have a 5.5-inch OLED display - perhaps curved to the edges, but the 16:9 aspect raises some doubts: with the fingerprint scanner appearing on the rear of some of these renders - and minimal bezel on the front - it's much more likely to be 2880 x 1440 pixels or similar for an 18:9 aspect.

  • 🔺At the moment the display aspect isn't clear, with Chinese media reporting that it will stick at 16:9. No further details are confirmed by the FCC, other than the 5.5-inch size.

  • ⧭Nokia 9: Cameras
  • Dual rear Zeiss cameras confirmed
  • 12+13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front
  • Could feature wide-angle and zoom lenses
  • Vertically stacked
  • Nokia confirmed a partnership with Zeiss that came to fruition in the Nokia 8 and we'd expect to see this appearing on the Nokia 9 too. Nokia 8 features a dual camera system pairing an RGB sensor with a monochrome sensor, the aim being to boost picture quality.

  • ↝Rumours of the Nokia 9 originally pointed to a 22-megapixel rear camera, but appears to be more of a wishlist, because the FCC filing for the Nokia 9 reveals that it actually as a pairing of a 12 and 13-megapixel camera on the rear, and a 5-megapixel camera on the front. No other details are revealed, but other leaks have made some suggestions there.

  • ↜Some interesting details have surfaced in an app update for Nokia's camera. Buried within the app are some details about telephoto and wide-angle lenses. So far, none of the Nokia phones have offered this. Perhaps the Nokia 9 is going to make an about turn and use its lenses to offer these features, rather than the RGB/mono pairing on the Nokia 8.

  • ⇖Some manufacturers refer to "wide" and "tele" and it might just be that Nokia is going to do the same and either have a wide-angle lens like the LG V30 or a zoom like the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. There's also the chance that Nokia is going to attempt to do both.

  • ⇖There's also talk from some corners about dual front cameras. Nokia isn't alone in following this line - several others have been looking at this idea too. This has appeared in a device render that looks high quality, but we've little to corroborate it with.

Best Herbs that help you control your Diabetes

⧭Diabetes, though being a non communicable disease, is one of the most challenging health problems in today’s era. World Health Organization, (WHO) gives an alarming data, stating that 342 million people worldwide have diabetes, of which more than 80 per cent live in low and middle income countries.

⧭Diabetics take insulin injections and medicines to control their glucose levels. But there are many who believe in herbal cure also. Dr. Virendra Sodhi, first Ayurvedic and Naturopathic physician from USA, in his research topic ‘Sugar’ mentions about certain herbs, which are beneficial for diabetic patients.

⧬He says, for a diabetic patient, tight blood sugar control is highly important over time. Usually as the patient ages, the oral hypoglycemic drugs and insulin are not as effective in keeping blood sugars in normal ranges, thus creating many complications.”

⧬The herbs, Dr Sodhi talks about are: Gurmar (Gymnema sylvestre), Karela (Bitter Melon), Cinnamon (Dalchini), and Fenugreek (Methi). He explains that Gurmar regenerates Pancreas and Karela acts like insulin. About Cinnamon, he says, has shown to decrease serum glucose, LDL cholesterol and triglycerides in various human studies.

⧪Apart from the herbs advised by Dr Sodhi, a UK based website dealing with diabetes, mentions some more herbs like-

⧬Aloe Vera- Some preliminary research suggests that consumption of aloe vera juice can help in improving blood glucose levels and may be useful in treating people with diabetes. But they are not hundred per cent sure about it.

⧪Ginger- Planta Medica, one of the leading international journals in the field of medicinal plants and natural products, published a report in August 2012, stating that ginger may improve long term blood sugar control for people with type 2 diabetes.

🔺Turmeric- It is said to have many healing properties, and now turmeric is also finding its place amongst herbs used to fight diabetes. Long back, researchers from the National Centre for Cell Science in India conducted a thorough study with the help of pancreatic cell from mice and found that turmeric helped pancreas from getting damaged. And it is a fact that pancreas produce insulin which helps in preventing diabetes.

🔺Garlic- It is thought to offer antioxidant properties and micro-circulatory effects, but very few studies have linked it with insulin and blood glucose level. It may cause the reduction in blood glucose, but data stating this is very limited.

🔝Holy Basil (Tulsi) - This herb occupies an important place in traditional ayurvedic practices. A controlled clinical trial showed a positive effect on postprandial and fasting glucose. Experts predict that herb could enhance the functioning of beta cells, which would further facilitate the insulin secretion process.

🔺Prickly-pear cactus- The plant grows in arid, dry condition. Natives of Mexican desert have used it in glucose control. But its validity is not confirmed and needs proper trail.

⧬There are many herbs present with some character to prevent or control diabetes, but in many cases, further research is required. Also not many of them assure of hundred per cent treatment.

🔻Dr. Suman Prakash, who practices in Connaught Place says, “Diabetes is an incurable disease, but still a lot can be done. As far as diet is concerned, we all take many herbs in our diet, but hardly find any result🔼🔼🔼🔼🔼🔼🔼🔼

"When I hear the word Arshi Khan my curiosity was aroused and I stood there, pretending to hail an auto, all the while listening attentively to the four youth. They were discussing about using auto bots and fake accounts to trend a hashtag on Twitter to hold Priyank. They were also discussing how fake accounts on Facebook could be used to promote positive news associated to Priyank and downplay the other contestants. The only disgusting fact was that they were using very abusive words against Arshi Khan and Shilpa Shinde and at solitary stage one of them said 'woh toh teen hazar mein sone wali aurat hein' referring to Arshi Khan. This got my goat and I spontaneously lashed out at the four youth and screamed at them that they must not speak about a female using such derogatory and vulgar words," Flynn alleged in the email.
As soon as he introduce Arshi as his "daughter" to Priyank's fans, they allegedly attacked him mercilessly.

"They asked me who was Arshi Khan to me and I said 'she is my daughter'. Without any warning, the four pounced on me and started hitting me with punch and kicks. I was slapped, punched and kicked for about a minute. Fortunately, a Police van was passing by and I yelled POLICE. The adolescence turned, saw the police vehicle and ran towards Adarsh Nagar," Arshi's publicist said.
However, Flynn do not intend to file any police complaint alongside the attackers as he feels that filing case will take a lot of time, which he does not want to waste.
"I do not intend to file a police force complaint as it will be a huge waste of time. I have absolutely no idea who the youth are. What is very surprising is the fact, how they just pounced on me, when I said I was connected to Arshi Khan. Maybe they got infuriated since I had heard their entire discussion," he completed.
